Geisler Defence 19x Step-by-Step Instructions

In this section, we’ll guide you through the complete step-by-step process of building your Geisler Defence 19x.

Step 1 – Removing the Tabs

The first step in your build is removing all four tabs from the frame. This includes the two tabs near the rear rail area and the two tabs by the locking block. For this, you can use tools like end-snips, 3D filament cutters, or an X-Acto knife.

If you choose to use a Dremel tool, exercise caution to avoid removing too much material. It’s best to leave a small amount of tab material, as the final finishing will be done by hand sanding to ensure precision.

Step 2 – Recoil Assembly Channel Removal

Removing the recoil assembly channel tab is one of the more challenging steps in your Geisler build. Start by cutting a “V” shape into the plastic using an X-Acto knife or box cutter.

You can also use a Dremel, but be sure to use a small attachment to avoid removing too much material or damaging the sides. Keep the two raised tabs along the frame intact.

To ensure proper function, remove material until the bottom of the “U” is flush with the rest of the frame. Finish the job using a circular file or 80-grit sandpaper for a smooth, precise finish.

Step 3 – Dremmal & Sanding

If you’ve made it this far, give yourself a pat on the back! Now, you’re onto one of the easier but most time-consuming steps.

This phase involves more Dremel work (if available) and a lot of hand sanding. Break this process into smaller steps, increasing the grit of the sandpaper as you progress.

You’ll need to sand all four tabs and the recoil assembly channel in a consistent, round-robin fashion. Here’s my recommended approach using the following sandpaper grits:

Dry Sandpaper:

  • 80 Grit
  • 120 Grit
  • 220 Grit
  • 400 Grit

Wet Sandpaper:

  • 1200 Grit
  • 2000 Grit

These grits are guidelines, and while you can use slightly different options, the key is gradually increasing the grit for a smoother finish.

Step 4 – Drilling

If you’ve made it this far, congratulations—you’re almost finished building your Geisler!

Next, place the frame into the jig, ensuring it’s seated firmly. Insert the three bolts and secure them with the nuts on the opposite side. Tighten the jig securely, but be careful not to overtighten and risk damaging the jig or stripping the bolts.

The jig has raised indexes to help keep the drill bit straight, but you’ll still want to ensure the bit is centered and goes through the material as straight as possible.

When drilling, avoid going through both sides at once. Drill one side, then flip the jig and drill the other. The Geisler package includes two bits—an M3 and an M4. The M3 is used for one hole near the locking block and another near the rear rail. The M4 is used only for the trigger area, and the jig hole sizing makes it easy to differentiate between the two.

Take your time with this step to ensure smooth installation of the lower parts and slide kit later on.
